Matthew Caunt is our newest member of the sailing committee. Matthew has a lot of experience in the organization of events due to participating in a lot of canoeing competitions in the past. The Caunt family are welcome members at Combs and each provide something in the way of help for the club. |
Bob Pyett returned this year as Chairman of the Sailing Committee after having a year off. After years of sailing Lasers and Graduates he has had recent success in a Supernova and has now upgraded to a Mk2. He keeps threatening to progress to the Supernova open meeting circuit, but wind, waves and work have been getting in the way. However recent retirement should help with that.
Sue Woolley is the Sailing Committee Secretary and has recently bought an RS Q'ba to resume single-handed sailing after a gap. She did however do the Fast-net last year so kept her hours up! Sue is also known for her (amusing) musical talents and has been known to sing at the sailing club Dinner Dance with Richard Silson.
Gerald Williams is Combs Sailing Club's race recorder. Gerald either sails a Topper or canoes on Combs reservoir most days of the year. He is well known for wearing his trade mark wellington boots around the club, and remains young at heart.
Richard Silson is a sailing committee member who is well known for his enthusiasm for the sport. With his new boat - Supernova 578 - he hopes that his performance might start to match it. He is keen to learn more about what makes a boat go fast and even keener to try to put it into practice.
Martin Ellis is a new member of the sailing committee. He used to sail a Lightning 386 but now sails a Supernova having only taken up sailing a few years ago. An accomplished musician, Martin takes to the stage at the annual dinner dance, providing musical accompaniment to the Combs Singers.
Louis Saunders has sailed from the age of seven, now 24 he has earned many accomplishments in the sport and that's not just at club level but at regional and national level as well. After spending a few years off studying for a degree in Arboriculture, Louis has come back and would like to have as much input and participate as possible.
